St Andrews has played a
significant role in the history of Scotland since at least
the 6th century. It is named St Andrews because the relics
of the disciple St Andrew were said to have been brought here
from Constantinople in the 8th century by a monk called St
Regulus or St Rule.
The cathedral and the castle are open
to the public and looked after by Historic Scotland. |
